TV Rain

Hello world, Denis speaking :-) As you already know, I'm not a TV viewer and my only mainstream source of info so far has been the channel “RT” (more about this, soon to be posted). Recently, there has been an addition to this “one itemed” list of worthy channels. This would be “TV Rain” or channel “Dozhd'” as it is called in Russia (that's right it's a Russian channel). So here we are coming straight at you with more rain than you've ever seen before – TV Rain coming to get you :-).

I presume that when you read that this was a Russian channel you were like “what the hell? This country has one of the most biased television possible (definitely agree with this)”. Well, although the biased situation in Russian television is somewhat obvious, all is not that bad. Just sometime ago there has been TV station which has been really rocking the Russian media scene and that will be “TV Rain”. Firstly I was very skeptical about this like most viewers, due to the fact that this TV was hosting programs with the participation of celebrities like Ksenia Sobchak. Have you heard about her? If not just find info about one of the worst and trashiest reality shows out there called
“Dom 2” (about it a bit later). Well to give you details on it, this is a show which was hosted by Ksenia Sobchak and is really a big pile of horse s**t, to say the least.

Don't worry, I will spare you the excruciating details regarding all other stupid programs Sobchak participated in. Just one more thing, they are all stupid. All but one which is “TV Rain”. TV Rain is what I personally would call an analogue (ideology – wise) to “RT”. The main difference I guess will be the fact that unlike “RT”, these guys focus on Russia and Russian politics. I promised to not give my own political opinion in my blog (though it's quite clear from my posts), so I wouldn't influence your opinion by telling you guys what I think of the political situation out here in Russia. However, the guys out here in TV Rain, don't hesitate to do so and can even boast of being one of the only TV channels out here in Russia to have invited our local “corruption Zorro”, Alexey Navalny and an extremist leader Edward Limonov. Do you know this guys? No? Well, here are photos of these public figures with links to information about them.

Alexey Navalny
Edward Limonov

Read it? Quite impressive that a channel in such a country as Russia would dare show these guys and even more give them a chance to express their opinion on television. Believe me for most Russians, that's an impressive stunt right there. But all these are just some of the few things which I value in this channel as a viewer. They also have a quite descent cultural and sociological “feed” which is worth their while. In addition to that, TV Rain hosted a program last year called “Parfenov and Pozner” which was co – hosted by the legendary interviewer Vladimir Pozner (a bit later about him in detail) and is still one of the best TV programs out there despite the fact that it will soon be replaced or closed due to some issues regarding the availability of Pozner (who seems to have a contract binding him to one of the major Russian state channels). So to conclude with this perception of TV Rain, will like to refer you guys to the links below if there is any need for more details about TV Rain.
