Jane Galagher

So this one is about some awesome poetry brought to you by the one and only Jane Galagher. In addition to that it’s going to be a post about poetry the way we think about it these days and so on. In short, good stuff! First things first, allow me to focus on Jane Galagher. Well, at least I’ll try to do it in the most objective way possible, taking into consideration the fact that she is one of the closest people to me. Jane is someone I may call “a modern day poet”. Modern in the sense that she is quite up to date with everything going on in the world these days and poet, well, because she writes poems and good ones for that matter. Of course, according to my Art?!?!?! post most of you got the idea that any form art critic is worthless due to its subjective nature, nevertheless I do like Jane's poems without necessarily understanding or being keen on poetry at all. Why? Perhaps it's because I know Jane all that well. Perhaps it's because I know and understand the mind behind many of her poems. It doesn't really matter, right? What matters is that there are people out there that actually do something in their lives, and Jane is one of them. Indeed, Jane doesn't just do "something". She's actually out there experimenting with a ton of stuff that range from yoga (by the way think you should change your name to "yoga warrior") to a bunch of other stuff which would take a long time to enumerate, but I wouldn't go there this time around and would rather focus on the poetry. Though the “yoga warrior” aspect is really an integral aspect of her personality. There's even a photo-shoot out there somewhere where you guys can see the way she combines literature and yoga. Amazing stuff!!! Here, have a look.

So, getting back to the poetry. As I mentioned in one of my posts earlier, I’m not what you might call a poetry kind of guy. In fact, I always thought of poetry as being one of those things  which have to give way to the new, in the sense that I’ve always thought of it as something so old-fashioned and full of dogma that there was no space for innovation at all. I even tried to look up what’s going on in this sphere these days, but it was useless. Poetry doesn’t seem to affect me in any way. Perhaps, this is the reason why in my last encounters with Art, I’ve been mostly focused on artists which had or have an original approach to their work. I even came to the conclusion that these days art is all about being unique and nothing else. If you succeed in provoking any thought in your audience, you should probably thinking of adding the word artist to your resume. This tendency can be seen all the way through my posts in the #hashtag tab (go on have a look, you will be surprised by how creative some people out there can be). And this is where the audio visual poetry stuff came up. I and Jane hooked up, and bam! Jane, Open You Eyes! first visual poem was born ^_^. Here you go, I guess you guys might want to watch this. It’s in Russian, but I think you’ll still be able to feel the level of intensity which is omnipresent in this work. Enjoy…
After looking at this video several times, editing it and so on. I started to get the feeling that perhaps the whole idea of classicism and so on might be completely wrong. Indeed, the idea that one form of art can or should die in order to give way to the new seemed to be made redundant. What was I thinking?! Technology, the internet and so on have long shown us that the world will never end it’s road to perfection and evolution, and there is no reason this should happen with creativity, too, right? I still don’t get poetry and would prefer listening to rhymes in a good old hip-hop track, but I’ll have to acknowledge the idea that this medium we used for poetry was stunningly awesome. A fun thing that’s out there and it’s kind of nice knowing that we made it together. It was very rewarding and satisfying. Hope there’ll be more to come. In the meantime if you guys are interested in more poems written by Jane Galagher I’ll suggest you guys going to her public page by going to the link below. Trust me they are awesome!!!
